Money raised through the fun run, which was held at Aurora Stadium for the sixth year in a row on Saturday, will help the Launceston branch of the Make-A-Wish foundation grant wishes for Tasmanian children battling life-threatening illness.
Over the past six years, the event has raised almost $150,000 for the charity organisation.
“The profits from the event go directly to granting wishes for children in our local area,” Launceston Make-A-Wish volunteer Tamara Webb said.
“The positive impact of a wish lasts long after the wish has been granted, and spreads beyond the child and their family to the community and everyone involved in making the wish come true.”
With more than 400 people participating and about 30 volunteers, Ms Webb said the support for the event was “amazing”.
“We are so thankful for our wonderful sponsors, volunteers and the Launceston community,” she said.
