A SUCCESSFUL Australian eightball championships finished up in Launceston on Friday night with West Australian Ben Foster defeating two-time reigning men’s singles titleholder Michael Scerri to the 2016 crown.

Foster took down the Victorian 10-7 at Country Club Tasmania, while NSW’s Sharron Brown won the women’s singles 8-5 over Northern Territory player Melanie Sanders.
John Russell proved too good for his Victorian compatriot Steve Gray in the men’s masters singles battle.
Victoria beat WA to the women’s teams championship and Victoria outplayed South Australia 17-12 to take home the men’s team’s trophy.
Tasmania’s men’s masters team defeated WA to clinch the state’s first title in more than a decade.
“It was a good tournament,” organiser Andrew Saltmarsh said.
More than 240 people attended a presentation dinner on Saturday evening.
