The Innovative Tasmania Awards will be held on October 27 at Wrest Point, Hobart.
Voting closed for the awards on September 30 and now the 66 nominees patiently await to see how the public voted their innovations.
With 11 Awards up for grabs the night is sure to be a fun filled and prestigious event, with each winner receiving a 2 minute video vignette of their innovation which will be broadcast on Southern Cross News.
Innovative Tasmania Awards director, Owen Tilbury said the night would be a prestigious night, filled with celebrations of Tasmanian innovation.
“The purpose of all of this is to actually get a message out that innovation exists in everything we do, whether you’re in the community or in the economy or in government,” Mr Tilbury said.
“Everybody needs to be an innovator, we need to be an island of innovation.”

Mr Tilbury was overwhelmed with the sponsor list for this years event, calling it an ”A list of sponsors”.
“The sponsors who are supporting innovation in Tasmania, is really incredible, from nbn to the State and Federal Governments to Bellamy’s Organic, who themselves are a local innovative company, who have come from start up to major sponsor,” he said.
Interest in the awards has increased this year, with nominations up over 50 percent.

“Last year we had 2,000 public votes with 32 entries and this year it has increased to, 66 entries and 4,500 votes.
“This shows that people are interested and invested in innovation, this may have been as a result of Malcolm Turnbull’s statement last year, that “innovation is the driver of modern Australia”.
Mr Tilbury believes that as an island, Tasmania is extremely innovative as they are obliged to do things differently to their counterparts.
“People are proud of Tasmania as an innovative island and the sponsors and public votes are testament to that.”
The 11 categories of the Innovation Tasmania Awards include some of the brightest and best local innovators, startup businesses and government entities.
Innovative Tasmania are excited to celebrate Tasmania’s best innovators and innovations at the awards ceremony on October 27, Wrest Point, Hobart.
