Tasmania’s history, culture, fine art and diverse environment will be highlighted at the Artentwine Sculpture Biennial Exhibition and Symposium from October 14 to 16.

A series of seminars, masterclasses and workshops will be held over food, wine and conversation for the three-day event.
Cultural committee chairperson Robyn Barnet said the symposium is about the landscape and culture, and the way people use the landscape to influence art.
“It isn’t necessarily about how to build sculptures, it is about the inspiration you get from the landscape and how important the landscape is to people in life and art,” she said.
Friday will launch with a progressive degustation dinner in which attendees will visit five sculpture exhibition sites.
The luscious, hilly views offered at the Tamar Island Wetlands Centre will provide a stunning backdrop for a jam-packed day of events on Saturday. Discussions about the physical and emotional responses to Tasmanian land through art will be conducted by Patsy Cameron, Vicki West and Lola Greeno.
Sunday’s discussions will be held at the Windsor Function Centre and will focus on public art in the world forum.
Artentwine vice chair Hilary Keeley said the weekend wasn’t just for artist.
“It is such an incredible program with interstate and local artists,” she said.
