Today, it is a nationally-recognised event pulling in some of Australia’s biggest names.
Last month, the festival announced the first of its acts, Hermitude, will take to the stage when the festival celebrates its fifth birthday in February next year.
While the size of the festival has grown, the safe, relaxed and fun atmosphere has never wavered.
One of the festival’s directors Ryan Limb said this was part of Party in the Paddock’s success.
“It’s pretty mind-blowing to think that five years ago, we were literally just a party in a paddock with a bunch of mates just celebrating,” Mr Limb said.
“In such a short time, it’s transformed into a full-blown nationally-known festival.
“We started off with a pretty small, simple vision so it’s pretty amazing to look back at everything.”
Party in the Paddock is no longer a festival that just attracts Tasmanians, music-lovers from across the country are descending to the island.
“We’ve got a reasonably large interstate following and we’ve had tickets sold in places like Melbourne and Adelaide,” Mr Limb said.
“I think people really like the festival because we haven't tried to be something we’re not and we’ve always done what we’ve enjoyed doing.
“We really want to stay true to our followers and respect what they want.”
The announcement of Hermitude has already created waves in Tasmania.
Mr Limb said as soon as he saw the band live earlier this year, he knew he wanted them at Party in the Paddock.
“We saw Hermitude live and we just knew these guys had to come to our stage because they were absolutely amazing,” he said.
“It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen.”
The team will branch out this year to add a New Year’s Eve event to their books.
The Royal Eve celebration will take place in Launceston this year, more details on acts will be announced soon.
Party in the Paddock will take place at White Hills from February 10 to 12, 2017.
