Sunday night’s premiere of Network Ten’s much-hyped dramatisation of the life of the late motor racing champ attracted a timeslot-winning 1.3million viewers nationally, including 828,000 viewers across the five metropolitan cities.
The national audience for the opening instalment of the biopic starring Offspring’s Matt Le Nevez as Brock peaked at 1.68million - not enough to beat Molly Meldrum biopic Molly as the most-watched Australian mini-series of 2016.
.
But the King of the Mountain saga won its timeslot for WIN in regional markets, including the ACT, southern NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.
Though fewer viewers returned for Monday night’s second instalment, this year’s Bathurst 1000 race clearly got viewers revved up for the premiere of Brock.
The race coverage averaged 1.6million viewers nationally for Ten and WIN, peaking at 2.36million.
The Bathurst podium presentation segment of the telecast had 2.2million viewers, peaking at 2.41million - making it the most-watched show of the day nationally.
Co-starring Brendan Cowell as Brock’s Ford-driving Mount Panorama rival Allan Moffat, Steve Bisley and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Brock could not match the pulling power of the year’s most-watched TV biography, the Molly Meldrum mini-series Molly, which drew 2.6million viewers to Seven and regional affiliate Prime7 back in February.
