From 10am to midday 30 local personalities will take part in the Big Freeze event at the Quadrant Mall. All money raised will go towards finding a cure for motor neuron disease and supporting the 40 Tasmanians currently living with the disease by assisting with the cost of medical equipment and care products..
Football great Neale Daniher and his wife Jane will attend the sold-out Gala Ball fundraiser at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston on Saturday night.
Launceston’s Big Freeze committee hope to raise $100,000 across both events.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zettan will be supporting the cause by diving into the ice cold water.
“[MND] is something we haven’t got a cure for and I am happy to help out in whatever way I can to find the cure,” he said.
The Avenue will be closed on Saturday morning for the Big Freeze event.
