The Tigers batted first and were in early trouble at 3-29 before Mowbray’s Jarrod Freeman (56), Longford product Jake Williams (46) and Jarrod Kaye (43) steered them to a competitive 9-218 off 50 overs.
In reply, South Australia chased down the runs down in the 48th over for the los of just half their wickets.
Cameron Bullard produced a brilliant knock of 73 not out from 66 balls, while Freeman (1-35 from 10 overs) was the pick of Tasmania’s nine bowlers used.
Tasmania next play Queensland on Sunday.
