Fresh from a win for album of the year at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards, the singer is preparing for his first ever tour of Australia next month.
Bamford lived in Victoria until he was five years old before he moved to Canada and now lives in the music capital, Nashville.
His career has been a dream come true – 19 top-10 singles, 22 CCMA awards and eight studio albums.
Bamford’s latest release, Tin Roof, has already spawned two number-one hits following its April release.
“I took a lot of time on this album, definitely more than the other ones,” he said.
“I try to look at other people’s life experiences for my music - I don’t try to specifically relate it all to me personally because I think people want songs that they can connect with.”
Having taken so much time on the record, Bamford and his team were left with the difficult decision of having to pick only the best cuts for the final product.
“It’s tricky to cut out those songs but I never lose them, I always keep them and come back to them so they might end up on a record down the road,” he said.
Bamford will join The Wolfe Brothers in Hobart on October 7 and Launceston on October 8.
