Professor Warner visited residents and farmers at Kentish, Latrobe and Meander Valley municipalities on Monday to talk about their experiences and hear their stories.

She heard of the frustration people felt about delays, debris left behind on agricultural land and people still unable to live in their homes. 

The Governor was surprised by the extent of the damage not only to infrastructure but also the surrounding landscapes. 

“The countryside itself is so damaged,” she said. 

Wayne and Julie Paul from Caveside are still recovering from the floods, which caused extensive damage to their property. Mrs Paul said it was good to be able to share their story with Professor Warner.

“I think I overwhelmed her with all the photos I was showing her,” Mrs Paul said. 

Professor Warner said she was sorry she wasn’t able to do more to help.
