Sydney Opera House – The Opera (The Eighth Wonder) will be performed on the steps of the opera house, with the chorus and orchestra performing inside.
The entire musical performance will be delivered to the audience through 3000 sets of headphones, in a technological feat never achieved on such a large scale before with classical music .
“It’ll be really interesting ... Opera is always looking to evolve I guess and I think this is a method of that evolution,” Mr Dundas said. He said the experience presents unique challenges.
The silent opera is at the Sydney Opera House from October 28 to November 5, and captures the fraught story of the iconic building.
“The story of the opera house is unquestionably worthy of an opera because it was incredibly divisive and contentious,” Mr Dundas said.
Mr Dundas moved to Launceston three months ago and has connected with the town and lifestyle.
