The annual exhibition is open to Launceston Art Society members and residents of Meander Valley and entrants are tasked to create a work that reflects the Meander municipality. This year the exhibition attracted around 40 entries.
“The theme [this year] was Vital Signs,” Launceston Art Society president Carolyn Riley said. “They’ve (the artists) worked on things like the natural resources there, the environment and just residents too.”
A range of painting styles were used including impressionistic, abstract and realistic. Ms Riley said this year's entries were of a high quality.
The exhibition includes four award categories, which were awarded to Bradley Quinn, Robyn moore, Shirley Pitt and Tudy Humphries. Four highly commended prizes were also awarded.
The annual exhibition is part of an ongoing partnership between the Launceston Art Society and Meander Valley Council, which also includes an Artist in Schools Program.
The program sees Launceston Art Society Members visit schools in the municipality to teach the students. “It’s really flourished over the years, it’s been really, really good,” Ms Riley said.
The exhibition is at the Country Club until October 30 and will then be on show at the Elemental Art Space in Deloraine during November.
