The safety awareness month was launched on Friday by WorkCover Tasmania board member Rob Walters, who said the month aims to promote awareness and reduce injury and illness in the workplace.
“Worksafe month is an ideal way for workers, managers and employers to learn more about managing workplace hazards,” he said.
The theme of Worksafe Tasmania Month this year is leadership, culture and organisational safety. Mr Walters said leadership is key to ensuring workplace health and safety.
“I’m talking about such things as the workplace contacting an injured worker and just simply saying, ‘How you going?’,” he said.
Worksafe Tasmania Month includes a range of activities workplaces can become involved in, and concludes with the Worksafe conference and awards presentation.
