Celebrating pre-1970s vehicles, the festival has raised nearly $130,000 for Camp Quality, with event coordinator David O'Keefe hoping to raise another $25,000 this year.
“It's turned into a full weekend because on the Saturday we've got a classic car cruise; they'll meet at JJ’s in Longford at 9.30am, head out to Pearn Steamworld, into the Launceston Automobile Museum and then back to Longford,” Mr O'Keefe said.
“Then Sunday is the main day, we've got pre-1970s vehicles, we've got three bands, and we'll have a pretty special raffle this year.”
Backed by Tasmanian four-piece Skooterz, Launceston musician Matt Garwood will front the entertainment stakes, reprising several numbers from Encore Theatre’s recent production of Buddy Holly.
"Even though he passed away in the late ‘50s, his music still lived on through the ‘60s through to now and that’s a really great theme to be able to put with these amazing looking cars and the whole theme of the day,” Garwood said.
The Sunday event will also include fashion parades, raffles merchandise stalls, food and drink vendors and will feature Fords of the ‘60s.
Admission to Rock and Rodz is $12 with under 16s free.
