The official opening was at noon was followed by dinghy racing from 1.30pm.
“We had about 12 boats competing for the opening day,” Deviot Sailing Club commodore Tony Fist said.
“It was bit cold and started to rain later in the afternoon but we had quite a nice wind.”
The club conducts racing most Saturdays until the end of April each year.
“We have regular racing from now on with a trophy race next weekend,” he said.
Major events for this season will be a regatta for high performance and trapeze dinghies on October 29-30.
A Tas Cat regatta will be held on December 3-4 for catamaran classes, and the State Mirror class championships will be in March.
The club is offering learn to sail experiences for beginners, with a free Discover Sailing day on Sunday, October 23, and sail training in February, with details on their website.
