Argument seems to come down to personal belief of creation or evolution and human rights. However, whatever you believe, humans come in many and varied inherited categories including race, ethnicity, eye, hair and skin colour and sex among others.
Sex is also broadly defined as male and female, with sub-sets of straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, transsexual, cross-gender, intersex and many more world recognised categories. These are inherited genetic characteristics over which no human has control.
However, John Howard’s amendment to the Australian Marriage Act includes only one category, ‘straight’. Marriage can only be between male and female.
Australians who don’t fit into Mr Howard’s narrow excluding definition of love leading to marriage, the form of this social lawful arrangement, are excluded from the Australian Marriage Act. How Australian “Fair Go” is that?

Plebiscite
FEBRUARY 11, 2017? What a golden opportunity to vote on the right to die at the same time and thereby save a fortune in costs. I’ll vote in favour of same-sex couples to be allowed to tie the knot as long as they vote for my right to end my life if and when I feel the need to do so. Bring it on.
Rienk van der Woude, Longford.
Federal Parliament
FEDERAL Parliament is now back in business - or not. We have Opposition leader Mr Bill Shorten opposing everything and anything Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is proposing, a little known Senator, John Day, saying get out of the UN and other crazy ideas (shades of Donald Trump), and Liberals trying all which way to bring Malcolm down.
Wouldn't it be a great idea if they all worked together to stop our country sinking under a mountain of debt and becoming even more irrelevant in this pat of the world.
