So when Charles Street’s Essential Homebody decided to branch out into the beverage market, it’s perhaps no surprise it set its sights on what is by definition everyone’s cup of tea – tea.
Sticking to its preference for Australian products, the fashion and homewares store will stock and serve organic brews from Sydney-based tea bar The Rabbit Hole.
Store manager Gina Gordon said the tea bar would add a new dimension to the store.
“We felt that this was something really different that hasn't been done before,” Mrs Gordon said.
“I think there's a lot of people who love tea that have limited opportunities to explore in Launceston... certainly the coffee drinkers are spoiled with choice but this gives tea lovers a good opportunity to try the tea here.”
The store will employ a BYO lunch policy, although some food options will be available.
“We're supporting local suppliers, each week we'll have cakes and pastries from local producers so that's something that will change weekly as well.
“We're also doing iced teas and sparkling sodas as well so you can have it in store or take it away.”
Essential Homebody and Tea Bar will open for tastings between 11am and 2pm on Saturday before its official opening on Monday.
