Executive officer Andrew McCarthy said the association devised the concept to reward their standout performers.
“The kids who play Northern high school sports don’t get the chance to represent their region because we’re the only region that does it,” he said.
“We can’t get the South and North-West regions to play us, so we thought how else could we recognise outstanding performance from the year and decided to have all-stars teams.”
Once the teams were selected, players were invited along to presentations and McCarthy said the feedback to the inaugural concept was positive.
“The parents that came along to the presentations appeared to be very enthusiastic about the idea in general,” he said.
“We will definitely have it again in future years and next year we hope to take it another step.”
