In their first ever state final, the team travelled to Hobart and came away with a massive 66-24 win over Guilford Young College.
Person-in-charge of basketball Natalie Good said it was obvious from the start that Scotch meant business, landing two baskets within the first 30 seconds.
“Our intensity didn’t ease up,” she said. “We forced Guilford to call a time-out at the four-minute mark in the first quarter with scores 15–0 in our favour.”
By half-time the margin had increased to 20 points and in a dominant 23-5 final quarter the power of Scotch Oakburn’s full-court press meant that Guilford struggled to get shots away.
Scorers were Connor Dixon (19), Lachie Bremner (15), Ben Kingsley (12), Felix Keam (7), Logan Walker (6), Luke Good (5) and Solomon Berechree (2).
Good praised coach Rick Wyllie for his mentorship, adding: “The boys have proven that hard work and determination to succeed certainly does pay off.”
