“I can’t say enough what it’s done for me,” she said. “The health factor was the main reason I started, but I also wanted to get my life back.”
Ms Sowter will share her story at a Dragons Abreast Northern Tasmania fundraising breakfast on October 12. The event, which will run from 7 to 9am, will raise funds for the group formed in 2007 for breast cancer survivors and their supporters.
Ms Sowter will share her journey with breast cancer and the benefits of dragon boating. “The actual comradeship and support and friendship that has come as a result of dragon boating has been immense,” Ms Sowter said. “It is a real feeling of understanding, that these people know what you’ve been through.”
Tickets to the breakfast at the Launceston General Hospital must be bought before the event. Contact LGH food services on 6777 6526 for more information.
