It is the second year running that the Flinders Islander has been included in the competition having played against South Australia, Queensland and Victoria last season.
A couple of months later Lees played his solitary first-class match, also for the CA XI, claiming the tidy figures of 4-96 against the touring West Indians in Brisbane.
The 22-year-old indigenous right-arm quick has also represented Tasmania in the Imparja Cup. He earned a Tasmanian rookie contract in the 2013-14 season when chairman of selectors Michael Farrell said: "Ryan has been rewarded with selection due to strong performances in various games throughout the preseason.”
Lees is the only Tasmanian in the 14-man CA XI squad picked by the youth selection panel in conjunction with state talent managers, although Mowbray’s national cricket centre head coach Troy Cooley will be assisting coach Brad Hodge.
CA’s national talent manager Greg Chappell said: “This is a great opportunity for these emerging players to test their skills and develop their cricket by competing at domestic level. Hopefully this will allow these players to push for further selection in states or national level.”
Last year the CA XI won one of six matches, defeating Tasmania by three runs at Bankstown Oval.
The side will feature in the tournament opener against Queensland at the Allan Border Field on October 1.
In other Tasmanian cricket news, former Tigers coach Tim Coyle will be assisting with the Australian men’s team against South Africa this summer. Coyle is currently with the women’s team in Sri Lanka.
