A St Leonards couple say they can’t wait to explore Australia, after winning the Sunrise Cash Cow $40,000 prize.

Ruth and Malcolm Hall said they were already looking at purchasing a caravan motorhome with the money, with plans to travel around Australia, including Tasmania, NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

Mrs Hall said they won the prize on Tuesday, and could not contain their excitement.

“We’ve been ringing and ringing every day for quite a long time, since it started a few years ago,” she said.

“We were totally over the moon – I can’t even begin to explain the feeling of winning.”

Mr Hall said they would start their trip in Tasmania, before travelling interstate.

“We’ve done a few trips around Tasmania over the years, we had a caravan previously, but it was an onsite van,” he said.

“We’re still looking at models and one that suits me, because I need one for the wheelchair obviously.”

He said he hoped to travel to North Queensland in particular, as well as the Northern Territory.

“I’ve been to North Queensland on a holiday but never by van. It’s going to be a fantastic experience. We’ll be looking to buy the caravan very shortly.”

On Tuesday afternoon, the couple were eagerly waiting for the Sunrise team to turn up in costume and award them their prize.

Mr Hall joked that he would bring his 23-year-old son Jesse Hall along, provided he was interested.

The couple said they were planning their trip for 2017.
