Released in 1976 by the Canadian composer, Plantasia is a 30-minute instrumental album with the tagline ‘warm earth music for plants...and the people who love them’.
It features ten electronic synthesiser based songs, all with plant related names such as Ode To An African Violet and A Mellow Mood For Maidenhair.
The music creates a feeling that, like a Venus Flytrap, although all seems calm and well, something dire may be about to erupt.
One is reminded of indie flicks like Submarine (directed Richard Ayoade in 2010) or truly cringeworthy B-grade horror films like Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Whatever your taste in music is, this album is sure to elicit thoughts of warm summers and cool drinks, and is perfect to listen to in a ‘sit back and relax after a long day’ situation.
