The Scotch Oakburn College year 8 student has witnessed multiple family members fight the cancer and is using a school project to help women who are struggling.
“Both my grandmothers have breast cancer … no woman should have to go through it,” Mataya said.
“Any type of cancer is painful and hard to watch so I wanted to help them out.
In an effort to make a difference to those struggling, Mataya has the goal of raising $2000 for the National Breast Cancer Network Australia and to do so, will hold a silent auction and dinner at the Westbury Hotel next month.
