Elphin Sports Centre in Launceston was a hive of basketball activity at the weekend with the state league getting underway alongside under-10 and under-11 tournaments.

With the SEABL finished, BTas’s club competition stepped into the breach with four of the opening round’s five games played at Elphin.

It was a successful start for BTas High Performance which recorded victories over new North-West outfit Maveric’s in the women’s (65-57) and men’s (96-80).

Ulverstone beat Launceston 69-53 in the women’s comp while the only Hobart fixture for the weekend saw Kingborough-Huon beat Hobart Moonah men 99-71.

On Sunday, BTas women continued their winning ways against Ulverstone 81-62, Maveric’s men beat City of Launceston 88-62 but the Mav’s women lost a thriller 73-72 to Launceston.
