Ripping off titles and cover art from Rod Stewart, Bell’s Every Picture Tells A Story debuts in Launceston at the end of the month.
The manpower behind Fresh Comedy, Bell said his solo show focused on the changes he’s been through in the past year – namely becoming a dad and avoiding the television shows his wife has found an addiction to (Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Antiques Roadshow).
“It’s about trying to be a good dad – not that I’m a bad dad and you need to call child protection – but about managing new responsibilities in your life, which doesn’t sound very funny,” Bell said.
“But there’s also a good story about the time I lost my temper and threw something at a complete stranger.”
Bell is also set to introduce his alter ego, Martin, who was created through a cloud of frustration at the job application process.
Martin Bell has applied for jobs he’s in no way qualified for, from a golf operations assistant at a prestigious Tasmanian course to personal assistant for Kamahl (who did not reply).
Seated and general admission tickets are $10, available at trybooking.com/LZUQ
