A visiting school group from Victoria enlisted the services of one of the most qualified Meander Valley tour guides on its trip to Tasmania last week, meeting up with Meander Valley mayor Craig Perkins at the Elizabeth Town cafe.

Cheltenham Secondary College teacher Katharine Balson said grade 9 student Aren Madsen had organised the meeting as part of his research on his assigned study town - Elizabeth Town.
“We got some really nice pictures with (Cr Perkins) and he gave us a box of ponchos in case we got rained on in Cradle Mountain,” Ms Balson said.
“He told us all about the area and he was our first Tasmanian we met apart from the bus driver, so we were very chuffed to have met the mayor.”
