Mr Turner won the award for the Best RSL, Sporting or Community Club in Tasmania, handed down in August at the Wrest Point Hotel Casino in Sandy Bay.
He said the upgrade of the venue’s Alexander Room created a meeting room for the community.
“We tried to break the traditional sporting club theme and adopted our own casual décor approach providing a warm and inviting environment for all patrons, we believe that this has been achieved”, Mr Turner said.
Mr Turner said the club employs up to 15 people in the summer.
