It’s not unusual for a disheartened borrower to turn to senior broker and director with Finance Brokers of Tasmania Gary Casboult after a knockback from a lender.
Dreams of buying a first home or starting a new business venture seemingly lost, they are relieved and hopeful when they receive advice and options that could make their dream a reality.
And when a suitable financer is found and the deal is done, no-one has more pride and satisfaction than Mr Casboult.
“This is what I love about this job,” he said.
“When I call a client and say ‘I can make it happen’ and they are able to move forward with their plans it really is wonderful.”
Mr Casboult has worked for Finance Brokers of Tasmania for 20 years, after a 25-year career with Westpac - his last role being as commercial manager.
The skills and experience as a bank manager were directly transferable to finance broking - he still interviews people to find a resolution for their finance needs.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a $5000 personal loan or a multi-million dollar commercial deal - the best part of 45 years in the industry means I can give the right advice,” he said.
“Clients come to me because they need that expertise and they rely on me to give an indication of the best way to achieve their goal on a basis that is financially viable and to find a loan that is the best possible deal for that purpose.”
FBT brokers go out into the finance market to various lenders that they are accredited with and make a proposal on behalf of their client. A broker has the knowledge and connections to shortcut what would be a time-consuming process for someone trying to compare the many loan options independently.
“With FBT borrowers have the professionalism of our team doing the work on their behalf,” Mr Casboult said.
“Without full understanding of all the lenders it is little wonder people can be misled or end up with a product or a scenario that’s not what they really wanted.”
And for those who have had their home loan request denied, Mr Casboult said don’t take no for an answer.
“Lenders are all different and have different criteria. We know the differences and how to fit that criteria.
“Just make an appointment with FBT and we can get the ball rolling.”
