Miss King did not reach the top 10, but was awarded the Viewer’s Choice award after a swell of public support.
“It was reassuring that Australia was behind me and they saw the potential of me possibly winning,” she said.
Throughout the night the contestants were judged on their introduction, swimwear and evening gowns.
Miss King said her main piece of advice to future contestants was to be themselves and not to compare themselves to others.
“There were so many beautiful girls there and you were chosen because you were just as beautiful as them, but in your own way,” she said.
“If you think that you want to give it a go just do it, because like I always say you’re only young once and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The crown was taken out by West Australia’s Caris Tiivel who will represent Australia at Miss Universe 2016 in the Philippines.
