Whitelion state manager Barbara Walters was delighted with the result. “We are completely blown away,” she said.
Whitelion will now begin working with businesses that have pledged a job or work experience to facilitate long-term employment placements.
“It'll be amazing, it actually enables us to run our employment programs and to have opportunities for our young people that have been working really hard to change their life and direction,” she said.
The job-a-thon also raised the profile of Whitelion’s work, with many people who were contacted pledging to volunteer time or be involved in the organisation in other ways.
