Mr Hamlyn’s birthday falls on Father’s Day, his father, Peter Hamlyn said finding his son safe and well would be the best present.
The 20-year-old, also known as Miguel Williams, went missing on July 11.
He has not accessed his bank account since July 10.
Police told the Hamlyn family their son’s mobile phone was last pinged near Tasmania’s East Coast.
Mr Hamlyn spent time camping on the East Coast with his family as a child and had recently spent a few weekends there with friends.
“We’ve told the police as much as we can about his experience down the east coast that we know of,” Peter said.
The tower which detected Mr Hamlyn’s phone covers a 70km radius.
“We sort of feel helpless because if there was a search area we’d be down there helping,” Peter said.
“His phone is now out of power or disconnected there has been no social media activity as well so it is sort of getting quite serious length of time,” he said.
Peter said if he could send his son a message it would be that they love him and no matter what issues or problems he has they were there to help him.
“We are just hoping he is okay but the police said the longer it goes on the chances of a good outcome gets lower,” he said.
Support from family and friends was helping the Hamlyn’s stay positive throughout this ordeal.
“Just a phone call from somebody every now and then just makes you feel better,” Peter said.
“We have our ups-and-downs but as a family we just need to lean on each other.”
Peter urged anyone in the community who might have heard or seen anything unusual around the time of Mr Hamlyn’s disappearance to report it to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Tasmania Police on 6230 2111.
“They will follow up anything even the smallest bit of information could help,” Peter said.
“They’ve (the police) been really good with keeping us up to date but they haven’t really had any leads to go on at this stage.”
Tasmania Police said in a statement on July 29 that Mr Hamlyn may have been in the Perth area around midday on July 10 and possibly in the Fingal Valley area later that evening.
He left his Launceston home on a black 2007 Suzuki motorcycle with registration A384U.
The motorcycle has not been found.
