Volunteer firefighter Danni Shaw will climb 28 flights of stairs, averaging about 18 steps per flight on Saturday.
“It is going to be a real challenge,” she said.
Ms Shaw underwent surgery six-weeks ago but she has not allowed it to hinder her goal.
“It will almost be like a win like I’ve beat it all it is sort of a personal aspiration,” she said.
Friends from the fire station helped Ms Shaw setup a gym in her garage so she could train for the climb.
“It’ll be great to get up the top and then take the lift back down,” she said.
Donation tins have been placed in businesses around Launceston including Busy Bee, Joe’s Supermarket and Takeaway, IGA West Launceston and Cuccina.
