On one hand, saying that Australia's parliamentary institutions were not working well at the moment, he still wants parliament to decide this important issue rather than let the people of Australia decide.
So much for our sense of responsibility, folks.
Justice Kirby also said that a plebiscite would lead to hatred and abuse towards gays.
Perhaps he should listen to Parliament in session occasionally to hear the abuse they hurl at each other.
He also said that putting the marriage equality issue to a plebiscite was simply an endeavour to delay or defeat the measure.
It's a classic case of any person or parliamentary party that doesn't agree with your opinion, must have ulterior motives.
I'm confident that the majority of Australians will discuss the issue respectively and will vote sincerely on the issue.

Climate Change
THE chicken or the egg.
When you warm up a bottle of champagne, carbon dioxide is given off.
When you heat up the ocean, it gives off carbon dioxide.
Is this perhaps what is happening, not the other way round.
Glass house users add carbon dioxide to the air inside to produce more vegetation growth.

Power of Smell
Surprisingly the most powerful of our senses is not sight, but smell (The Examiner, August 19).
A scent can alter mood, evoke memories and even determine our choice of partner.
Perhaps the most intriguing is the role scent plays in sexual attraction.
Old Spice or opium?
Could the masked scent of deodorants, aftershaves and perfumes be partly responsible for mis-matched couples?
