Monday, August 29 will official mark 100 years since the state's first national parks, Freycinet and Mount Field, were declared.
“This is a really special occasion and what better way to mark the occasion than a weekend of community events,” Parks and Wildlife Community Engagement and Partnerships Officer Sam Cuff said.
The weekend of activities at Freycinet start on Saturday and include live music, reading from Tasmanian authors and nature writers, lucky door prizes, childrens activities, aboriginal ochre painting workshops and team exploration challenges.
Mr Cuff said Tasmania’s parks are integral to communities around Tasmania, for more than just the walks they are famous for.
“There are places to eat, laugh, be inspired, be happy, to sing and dance. There are so many more opportunities than just the walks,” he said.
