Patrick Stanley Daley was sentenced in 2014 to 45 years’ jail, with a non-parole period of 25 years, for shooting his former partner and her current partner at a property in the state’s South.

He turned the gun on himself following the incident and was left with permanent brain injuries.

News that Daley was based at the Roy Fagan Centre, and not Risdon Prison, was shared over social media on Wednesday.

Corrections Minister Vanessa Goodwin said the prisoner was removed from the Lenah Valley facility following online threats made against him.

“The prisoner is question was at the Roy Fagan on medical advice,” she said.

“Security assessments are always undertaken when transferring a prisoner to a medical facility for healthcare.”

Ms Goodwin said that previous government had approved the centre for use as a institution to care for prisoners in 2013 and that it had overseen 800 overnight admissions for prisoners, including one serving a murder sentence.

Opposition Bryan Green grilled Premier Will Hodgman on the issue in Parliament on Thursday.

“The fact the double murderer was being held outside the prison system makes a mockery of your government’s record on law and order,” he said.

“It makes a mockery of your claims that you are tough on family and domestic violence.”
