The tour will be held on Wednesday October 5, to Sunday, October 9.
It is part of the Subaru National Road Series and unlike previous years it will be confined to these two regions.
“There is a much better cycling culture up North traditionally,’’ Trevorrow said on Wednesday.
“From the carnivals to the old Tour of the North, there is a real great history up there, so we know it will work well.”
Devonport and Ulverstone will hold road races on October 6, a stage which Trevorrow was one of his favourites.
A criterium through the centre of Devonport will end the event.
In between that Launceston for a road race, and then a hill climb on October 8.
There will also be a community ride at Grindelwald on October 6.
There will also be a community ride in Devonport on the criterium course before the final day’s racing.
The individual time trial prologue will be held on October 5 in Launceston.
It was announced on Wednesday that The Spirit of Tasmania will be the naming rights sponsor this year.
“In the national road series, this is the iconic series, as it has the longest history,’’ he said.
“The Spirit is perfect as we need to get the guys over here, and Victoria knows the Spirit of Tasmania, so they’re a great sponsor.”
Spirit of Tasmania chief executive Bernard Dwyer added: “The cycling, roads and scenery we can provide is astounding, so for us to be able to partner with them to showcase this outside the state is fantastic.”
Previous winners have included Richie Porte, Bernard Sulzberger and Cadel Evans.
