I believe the new owners of Invermay’s historic Star Theatre plan to install many of them in the re-birth next year of this fabulous art deco theatre.
Go the Star.
Peter R. Bomford, Ex-usher, 1960’s, Invermay.
Fiji Flag
IT’S OFFICIAL; Fiji will not go ahead with a proposal to change its flag, according to Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama.
Their flag, just like other former British territories such as Australia and New Zealand feature the Union Jack in the top left corner, and it’s there for a reason, it’s part of their heritage.
I say, Aussie would be republicans who want to change our flag may learn something from the Fijians, when the whole country rallied around their flag (with pride) as their rugby sevens team won Fiji’s first ever Olympic gold medal.
How good was that? It was great to see.
Robert Lee, Summerhill.
Tattoos
A JUMP in the number of people getting inked with tattoos has put a dent in the number of blood donations (The Examiner, August 17).
Those getting new tattoos must wait at least six months before donating blood because of an increased risk of hepatitis C infection.
Then why aren’t the tattooists advising their clients of such? It wouldn’t reflect well on them if they did.
A.R. Trounson, Needles.
Olympics
MAY I say I get a little bit fed up with the way the electronic media at times seems to regard Australian silver or bronze medal winners as some sort of lesser beings.
I would like to point out that on the day and I do stress that, on the day, just one or two people out of the 7000,000,000 plus people on this planet, there were just one, or two, ahead of them. In anybody’s language that’s pretty bloody good, so let’s give them the accolades they deserve.
