Metal lords DREADNAUGHT are touring Tasmania this weekend. The Hobart and Launceston dates are part of their Caught The Vultures Sleeping tour. They’ll play Hobart’s Republic Bar on Friday, and Launceston’s Club 54 on Saturday. In Launceston, they’ll be joined by Mephistopheles (who are launching their EP), Actuality, and Shark Puncher. Doors open at 8pm, and entry is $15 – you can buy your tickets early from Oztix.
You know her as the frontwoman for The Superjesus. Now get to know SARAH MCLEOD in her own right. The Australian singer-songwriter is bringing her solo show to Launceston this weekend. The date is part of her Alone & Unplugged Australian tour. She will perform at the Royal Oak on Friday from 9pm. Presale tickets are available online through Oztix for $25. Door sales, if available, will be $30. McLeod will also play at the Republic Bar in Hobart on Thursday night.
The brains behind two of Launceston’s top comedy rooms are joining forces. Yep, you can laugh and raise money for a good cause with THE HEADSPACE COMEDY DEBATE on Wednesday in Launceston. It’ll be the folks from Fresh Comedy v the good fellas at Crash Test Funnies, all moderated and hosted by RAW Comedy finalist Kerry Gay. It starts at 7.30pm at Saint John Craft Beer, and entry is $10. The proceeds go to Headspace.
Don’t forget to rally your crew for JUNCTION ARTS FESTIVAL – it’s just around the corner. The Launceston-based festival runs from September 7 to 11, and offers a bevy of different events. There’s bands in backyards of notable Launceston houses, walking tours, workshops, parties, and bus rides. The centre of the festival will be Princes Square, where you’ll find The Fountain Bar, Fountain Foodarama, and more. Melbourne death-doom metal band MYRIDIAN have announced a Tasmanian tour for next month. You can see the Scandinavian-influenced band in Launceston at the Royal Oak on September 10. Entry is $10 at the door.
