South Launceston women’s coach Craig McBain has hailed the achievement of finishing top amid a heartbreaking extra-time loss in last year’s first final.
“This year is all about getting a little bit of retribution,” McBain said. “We probably left the season too soon, as we were playing well at the end of the year. The girls carrying on well this year is a testament to their evolution, commitment and desire.”
The women suffered their first loss in the final round.
The nostalgia extends to the coaches, with son Alistair joining his dad in charge.
“It’s a little bit scary that I coach the girls and my son coaches the boys,” he said.
