A rollercoaster of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery followed the discovery of cancer – but two years on, Miss Young is in the clear and raising funds for the charities that supported her.
Miss Young and mother Lexie Young donated $4075.15 to the McGrath Foundation this year.
The funds were raised through several functions, a raffle and the sale of hand-knitted doll clothes.
The money joins about $2000 raised for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia in 2015.
“We’re very community-minded,” Mrs Young said.
Miss Young urged women to have the recommended scans.
“I want to make people aware to check and don’t ever knock anybody back for help because you need it,” she said.
