Shawn Tan and Samora Koto will both graduate with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science after studying for three and a half years.
“It’s the stuff that goes on behind the scenes at hospital, lab-based stuff like analysing blood samples,” said Mr Tan, who came from Malaysia to study in Launceston.
Mr Koto arrived in the state from Sudan in 2001 and said he was excited about graduation. “I’m aiming to work in a lab and then probably further on study and maybe go into research,” he said.
“[UTAS] has been great, it’s a small uni, the lecturers are easy going and very helpful.”
The University of Tasmania graduation ceremony will be on Saturday, August 20 at 11am at the Albert Hall, and will include students from the Australian Maritime College, Faculty of Arts, Education, Science, Engineering and Technology, Health, and the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics.
