I Freak Out is the follow up to the duo’s 2015 debut album Pheromones.
It’s a taster of the progression that band has already made in the year since the aforementioned release.
The lead single for the EP Glad That You’re Gone is already making a solid dent in the country’s listening space.
The remaining five tracks have the same legs.
Singer-guitarist Ben David throws out some achingly honest lyrics in songs like I Freak Out, Breakdown, and Incoherent.
Despite comprising just David and drummer Alex Upton, The Hard Aches have an infectious energy that’s earned them a solid reputation for live shows.
They’ll be touring I Freak Out around the country in September and October.
Sadly Tassie doesn’t get a date on the tour (yet).
But if you’re one of the lucky ones who picked up tickets to Luca Brasi’s Hobart show in a couple of weeks, you can see them there.
The Hard Aches are part of that new wave of bands that are taking us into a new music era of Australian rock and songwriting.
I Freak Out will be released on September 9.
