Living with the condition herself, Ms Roney will travel to Mexico this week for a haematopoietic stem cell transplant.
Joined by her husband, her two children and her friends she hosted the shaving event as part of an ongoing campaign to fund her treatment.
The treatment will leave Ms Roney and her family $91,000 out of pocket, but through the generosity of the community she has raised $83,000.
“We really didn’t even think we would reach our goal, which was $80,000,” she said.
Her husband Shaun Roney said the support for his wife had been overwhelming.
“There’s a huge beacon of hope at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
“It’s pretty hard knowing she has to travel so far away and not being with her, but she’s been so strong.
“Fingers crossed we get a really good result that will potentially be life changing.”
Ms Roney will head to Mexico on Thursday.
