Grade 7 and 8 students joined forces will 75 other schools statewide to plant 6000 seedlings, all of which were propagated at Forestry Tasmania's Perth nursery.
Resources Minister Guy Barnett, who was joined by Forestry Tasmania's Peter Moore at the Cressy planting, said the initiative was a great way to teach students about the value of trees to the environment.
“Tree Day is a great hands-on opportunity for students to experience planting and caring for seedlings as they grow and, in doing so, to help beautify or provide more shade or shelter at their school,” Mr Barnett said.
