The Blues trailed by seven points at quarter time and 23 at the main break but the Roos dominated the second half booting ten goals to one to run out easy winners 24.10 (154) to 11.9 (75).

Standen was a standout up forward with Michael Blackburn kicking five and Ian Callinan three for the Roos with Jake Cox judged Clarence’s best.

Jay Blackberry finished with four goals for Launceston to be the Blues best player with Zach Griffiths doing well in a couple of run-with roles and Joe Groenewegen and Sam Rundle working hard.

“It was similar to what we’ve seen in the past few weeks,” Launceston coach Chris Hills said.

“It was the third quarter that let us down and we were outscored by 45 points – we just have to take some responsibility on the field and shut things down when it is not going our way and get better at it.

“We were four goals down at half-time but we weren’t playing fantastically and it was that third quarter that was the disappointing one.

“Their top five or six players really stood up – the Callinans, the Coxes and the Drurys and players of that calibre stood up and took control of the game and we didn’t have an answer for that.” Hills said winners were hard to find for the Blues but praised Blackberry’s four-goal effort and Griffiths for his shut-down role on a couple of Clarence players.
