The George Town Chamber of Commerce and Bell Bay Aluminium Business Excellence Awards were determined through public voting in three categories and a panel of judges in four other categories.
Encouragement winner Jodie Snooks has been hard at work to develop travel toys for children, and said it was an honour to be recognised for her two businesses – &Co and The House of J.
She said The House of J was a design label specialising in knitted travel toys, while &Co functions as a pop-up shop and allows her to sell her products and others on behalf of businesses.
“One of my bigger products would be Lego wallets so basically, travel packs like a wallet but folds out,” she said.
Bell Bay Aluminium mechanical maintainer Brendan Sheriff, who won the young achiever award, said he’s enjoyed the leadership opportunities offered in his career.
“Bell Bay Aluminium has been great in the recognition of myself and other employees that try to go beyond the standard role by offering more opportunities to try something different,” he said.
Mr Sheriff said his role involved the supervision of shutdowns at the plant as well other projects.
