While the out-of-town visitors snapping up winter accommodation bargains at Tamar Valley Resort are well aware of Grindelwald’s long list of food, shopping and entertainment options, it’s the locals who might have a lot to learn.
This hidden gem not only allows visitors to step into another world and take in the fascinating architecture, magnificent gardens and picturesque grounds, but it’s a family venue, where kids can escape the screens and bounce on the giant pillows, use paddle boats on the lake or try to keep up with adults on the mini golf circuit.
When hunger strikes you can have a delicious meal in the Alpenrose Bistro, grab an amazing home-made sausage roll or banana and Nutella muffin from Bakery on Grindelwald or if something sweet is required, the new owner of the Chocolate Cafe has amazing offerings served in a delightful decor.
My undoing was the shopping. Grindelwald News and Gifts has an amazing selection of pretty, practical and amusing items and Vonda Anne’s Gifts and Fashions caters for all tastes and sizes with extremely reasonably priced clothing. I’m already planning another visit which involves letting the kids enjoy the Penny Arcade while I received some pampering at Studio Hair and Beauty.
Grindelwald still retains the charm and ambience captured by its developer, Roelf Vos, but with a whole new vibe. Take a look next time you’re exploring the Tamar Valley.
