“We want to continue to playing the younger guys we have and giving them a taster,” Thorp said.
“We have another debutant, number eight, who will play his first senior game this week in Kurt Mason who will be thrown into the jungle so to speak and it is going to be a solid contest that’s for sure.
“We had the bye last week so it was a good opportunity to go and watch North Lonnie and Glenorchy play and no doubt the rest of the competition are chasing those two clubs because they are very strong teams.”
Glenorchy defeated the coastal Pies by 52 points in round 9 at Devonport Oval after Devonport trailed by just 11 points at the last change.
“It was a pretty strong contest to that point and they got away from us in the last quarter,” Thorp said.
“Oddly enough that gives us confidence that if we play a certain way that we can be in the game right until the final change.
“We certainly dropped off in the last quarter against them last time and as I’ve said before we are after a four-quarter performance which gives us a chance.”
Thorp said the Pies hadn’t qualified for finals yet needing to win one of their remaining three matches.
“We need to keep improving and that’s our objective to qualify because we want to be in that finals race.
“We’ve had two close games against Lauderdale this year.
“It looks like we might meet in an elimination final but we will worry about this week first.”
