Gunson said the board was pleased with the result, which was the outcome of a nine-month corporate governance review process.
The review involved Athletics Tasmania, Athletics Australia, the Australian Sport's Commission and the state government's Communities, Sport and Recreation Department.
“The contemporary structure of the board will help the sport of athletics to move forward,” Gunson said.
“A special general meeting will be scheduled for mid-September, at a time to be confirmed, to elect a skills-based board to develop a strategic vision and future direction for the sport.”
The new Athletics Tasmania board will comprise of five elected and up to two appointed directors.
Gunson said the nomination process would start in coming weeks.
